Back Off Warchild. Seriously. This kid is crazy talented. I love this one maybe more than all the others. Favorite track: Perpetual Decline - I.

Johan Way too late, I listened to the newest full length of Escaping Agartha, "Croak". A release of superior production with every song crawling deep into your soul. Take time to listen to the message of this thoughtful artist, for you can always take out something for your own life. Favorite track: Consuming Drought.
Jordan Vauvert
Jordan Vauvert thumbnail
Favorite track: Chytrid.

Nikitash Croak grabs you from the very first riff, it drags you down to the deep with its powerful compositions and its layers of orchestration. Top notch underground doom metal supporting a very noble cause. Favorite track: Croak.

Chytrid 09:24
Chytrid fungus Persistent and pervasive No corner of our world Remains uninvaded Global connection fuels plagues Once Pandora’s box is open hope is lost… As a biologist I’ve seen the trends, data, the facts Tears flow from my heart. To care is to grieve Outlooks worsen becoming grim Frogs flow down the stream. Bloated and dead. Our legacy shall be Our fetid scar Of wastes Of extinction We need to change… Chytrid destroys Frog skin function And makes it unable To balance electrolytes Cardiac arrest soon follows the degradation Of ion channels (Sodium and potassium) Writhing in pain Hearts wrung by palpitations Amphibians pass away Populations starting to fade Zoospores burn their way Into the flesh Proteases Increase Sloughing of skin Spreading and killing Frog health failing Rheobatrachus silus Taudactylus diurnus Anaxyrus baxteri Atelopus longirostris Atelopus ignescens Rheobatrachus vitellinus Isthmohyla debilis Incilius fastidious Incilius holdridgei Are all fucking dead

Burning, building, plowing, clearing Forests destroys water cycles Invites consuming drought Drying our forests out Ecosystems destabilized We’re fucking ourselves - open your eyes! Wildfires blaze Scathing worse each year Landscapes razed Ashen wastes remain Frogs have evolved response to fire Burrows under the ground shelter From flames from fumes from heat from hell But we humans alter fires Preventing the normal rhythms Feeding giant forest fires How can we hydrate this drying world? Permaculture is the key to biodiversity Cease palm oil plantations Cease buying products which contain palm oil Halt eating cows raised in Brazil And, simply, start planting trees We have the means to create real change Do we have the will? Each fucking one of us has a duty To reverse this consuming drought we have made

Croak 12:25
The ephemerality of life makes every moment a gift Fragile and precious, our one planet is finite and unique How fucked must our world become before we value life and health more than fucking money? From global warming...to forest felling... this is alarming. Heed now, my warning: Dire future looms ahead unless change occurs in the: - Behavior of ourselves and our leaders - Consumers and producers - Cultures and world views We share crushing burden of living through the Anthropocene. What will the extinction toll be? The scientific data is clear - humanity is responsible for climate change and the Anthropocene - the sixth mass extinction in the history of earth. The situation is spiraling out of control at an exponential rate. Yet some people deny factual data and cling to conspiracies instead. As a scientist, I will tell you this - these problems are immediate and demand a response. Frequent wildfires, flooding, famine, pandemics, and wars fought over resources await humanity if we fail to act. Perpetual decline into extinction Happening before our eyes with frogs and toads They’re among the first victims - more are to come Vigor, vitality...ashen mortality Action is urgent - we can’t waste single moment Coral reefs bleach. Glacier ice melts into the sea. When will life croak?

ALL PROFITS from Croak in the first month of its release (including all preorders) will be donated to the International Union for Conservation of Nature - specifically to their amphibian conservation branch. Croak is a concept album about the ongoing amphibian extinction event, in which 33% of all amphibian species in the world are at risk of extinction if nothing is done to reverse their declines. Their declines are completely due to anthropogenic impacts. Drawing from a multitude of genres, Escaping Aghartha has created a unique and dynamic album that has few parallels. The founder and leader of the band, Avery, who is a biologist says "I wanted to add an element of time passing to Croak. To accomplish this, bells, stopwatches, and grandfather clock noises have been included in the album to create an urgent and dire mood. The amphibian extinction is happening rapidly, and in my daily life, I feel this urgency acutely. It weighs on me. Action and change is needed desperately. Croak acts both as a way to raise awareness about these issues and also as a catharsis for my frustration and sorrow".

Amphibian species are becoming extinct around 211 times faster than normal when compared with baseline extinction levels [1, 2]. This rate of extinction is extremely alarming - not only are amphibians important in ecosystems, but amphibians are also indicator species because they're relatively sensitive to changes in their environment. When amphibian species are in decline, that indicates poor environmental health and is a warning sign [3, 4]. If nothing is done to reverse environmental decline, other groups of animals will continue to experience increasing extinction rates.

Habitat loss is the most widespread cause of declines [5]. Development on wetlands, logging, palm oil/soybean plantations, mining, and cattle ranching are some of the most common practices which lead to habitat loss - especially in tropical environments [6]. Some species have an extremely small range which makes them especially susceptible to extinction from habitat disturbance.

Chytrid (pronounced kih-trid), a species of invasive fungus which has been unintentionally spread worldwide by humans, infects amphibians. It’s a highly infectious fungus that spreads rapidly and has high lethality rates. In some species, mortality is 100%. The Panamanian golden frog is a well-known example in which chytrid spread quickly throughout the species and resulted in their complete extinction in the wild [6].

Drought and climate change are also major threats to amphibians. Because amphibians require wet environments to reproduce, they are very sensitive to water cycle disturbances [6].
