Oceanic Womb
12:57
|
|||
Ocean vents birthplace of
Life on earth our warm womb
Formation of proteins
Spurs forward new epoch
Cells exist primal
Nature’s laws govern
Microbes thrive or die
In this cruel harsh world
Divergent from pattern
Exploring archetypes
Untouched and unbeknownst
Evolving adapting
Arthropods arise
Predators arms race
To survive they must
Eat fuck kill eat fuck...kill
Molting
Crustacea hunt now
Sever their prey
Blood runs in water
Foul carnage
Anomalacaris rips
And feeds
The Cambrian Explosion, birthing progenitors of body plans and ecological function
To think, the beginnings, were so humble - yet here we stand
Slurry of chemicals, hydrothermal vents, spawning forth replicating strands
Oceanic Womb, darkness vast, but amidst it all, life rises forth
Backbone support
Strength harnessed
Jaws crushing
Prey processed
Fish evolve
Primal hidden beauty and rawness of life and death | stories told in ancient fossils in which we reminisce
Monstrous armoured placoderms lurked in the high seas | I regret, they joined ranks of extinct mysteries

Aphotic Trench
05:56
|
|||
Trophic webs have been fractured asunder with bipedal tetrapods dominating the planet as alpha predators. Eons fell through the fissures of time, each year but grains of sand in sediment deposits, conjuring forth the Holocene.
Yet in spite of the dispersal of humanoids, a frontier remains uninhabited: the consuming blackness in murky abyssal trenches. Host to unfathomable life forms of awe-inspiring honed brutality, subjugated under the omnipresent crushing weight of that which is above. Eerie aberrations flourish both in bone-chilling, penetrating iciness, and in scalding toxic mixtures, the progeny from eons of selective pressures.
Siphonophores, gelatinous colonial masses, haunt twilight. Marine snow drifts from countless organisms above, life-bestowing gifts of epipelagic godesses. Cetacean carcass plunges to benthos, vast feast for Myxini and Chondrichthyes.

Starving Coral
06:34
|
|||
The fate of coral reefs is bleak, a morass of insurmountable and radical environmental change, harkened forth from generations of human greed and lack of foresight. Algae smother, choking coral beneath while zooxanthellae are expelled, intolerant of mere centigrade warming, causing bleaching and starvation. Ocean acidification weakens mineral uptake, slowing growth, threatening corals further. Nets drag, obliterating centuries of progress, a harrowing sight, reflective of hubris and inhumanity that permeates and fouls that which is touched. Toxins from waste, plastics, and oil desecrates, increasing the ever-growing probability of trophic cascade, an unrecoverable collapse in which life as we know fails. But hope remains in adaptive radiation and collective efforts of humans that know, care, and act...

Feast of Coral Gametes
05:44
|
|||
Feast, manta rays, on coral eggs
Night dawning - mass spawning - sea murky with gametes
Chosen few will get through the fauna - form larva
Siphon the sperm, gluttonous worm
Predators guts filling - some zygotes are forming
The midnight orgy ends - coral reef starts to mend
Golden dawn - zygotes won. Drifting far, brethren part. A new reef they now seek.

Cetacean Desecration
07:59
|
|||
Gruesome sight to behold
Water bloody with death
Savage and repulsive
Loss of humanity
In meat - mercury
Your brain - corroding
From this - putrid dish
Toxins - for your sins
Bodies lined up in rows
Proudly displayed trophies
They see successful hunt
I see a fucking waste
Bloodied - hands molest
Eager - and gripping
Oceans - depleting
Future - uncertain
Acrid - anger eats
For what - deathly meat?
Sorrow - engulfs me
Dying - cetaceans
Vicegrip - extinction
Whale pod - depletion
Despair - is blinding
Death march - they’re walking
The end - is nearing
Howling - at this fate
There is - no escape
We kill - and then rape

Raping Our Dying Mother
08:27
|
|||
Our sick dying mother, have you seen her state?
Hogtied in the town square, politicians defile her
Battered bloody body, her eyes plucked for dinner
“Ignore the cries of pain, they distract from our profit”
Citizens onlook with, seething hatred and rage
Corporate fat fuck, raping our dying mother
Greed for oil
Smother, choke, plow
Black ink kills
Corrupt and foul
Drink this water
Rippling with death
Rife pollutants
Lies
Merchant selling shit
They force feed it
Sourced from mother
Raped pulled from her
Gouged wide open
Her vital organs
Begin to stop function
Staring down the end
I’ll fuck your gut, for her, with knife
Painful torment, for you, awaiting
For your shameless public raping
Your cries, anguished, so sweet, to me
Frantic, you plead, your sad words stream
I laugh, deeply
And drive the knife even deeper

Yet hope remains, still
We need our seas...and our seas need us, too
